ATA invites truckies to shape its future

THE Australian Trucking Association (ATA) is giving Australian truck drivers a stake in the future of trucking.

The industry’s peak body invites Australian truck drivers and small fleet operators to elect two representatives to their General Council in 2009.

Elections are to be held from 12 January to 9 February by postal ballot. The successful candidates will take their positions on the ATA Council at its general meeting on 1 April 2009.

The ATA Council is at the forefront of issues involving truck drivers and freight operators and sets the policy direction the industry takes in discussions with governments and regulators.

The ATA is made up of representatives of all the its member organisations and companies, as well as the two members directly elected by owner drivers and small fleet operators appointed in the upcoming selection process.
