Brisbane freight route upgrade commences

AN $8.1 million project to upgrade the Warrego Highway between Tivoli and Blacksoil west of Brisbane has begun.

The project is made possible with funding from the Federal Government’s $42 billion Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.

The project, which aims to deliver a smoother driving surface for truck drivers and motorists, involves the repairing, strengthening and resurfacing of a 2.6 kilometre westbound section and a 7.6 kilometre eastbound section of road.

Queensland Minister for Main Roads Craig Wallace says maintenance and preservation of the existing road network is vital.

He added separate work supporting the maintenance contract, including raising guardrails, median islands, kerb and channel, additional signs and linemarking for Dorman Lance have already been completed.
