"DHL has won Employer of the Year at the annual South Australian SafeWork Awards with a program that has reduced the number of injuries by almost 90 per cent.
The innovative new program called "Make Safety Your First Choice" made DHL Supply Chain first choice for the judges," says Steven Stapleton, General Manager – Logistics Optimisation Centre, DHL Supply Chain.
"It is a huge honour to be named SafeWork Employer of the Year. This award is evidence of the importance we place on safety at DHL.
It also shows how committed our people are to safety in the workplace."
The initiative has significantly improved the safety culture and performance of the South Australia Edinburgh Park site with the facility recently celebrating 450 days of operations without a Lost Time Injury and recording an 86% reduction in injuries since 2007.
The "Make Safety Your First Choice" program included the development and implementation of a range of safety initiatives in consultation with the site OHS Committee.
The aim of each of the initiatives was to increase the safety engagement and awareness of safe working practices amongst all staff.
