Ringers Transport commended for improving truck unloading safety

TOWNSVILLE-based Ringers Transport has been congratulated for improving truck unloading safety.

Queensland Industrial Relations Minister Cameron Dick has visited the transport company after it contacted Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for advice on how to unload trucks safely and reduce the risk of workers falling from heights.

The trucking company did so after identifying unloading trucks as high risk, even though no one had been injured.

Ringers Transport then invested in a specially designed trailer with a forklift to unload trucks, and has access to other on-site forklifts and cranes when needed.

It has also introduced a new safety management system, improving procedures for various workplace activities.

According to Minister Dick, the proactive approach to reducing unloading risks makes Ringer Transport a good example of a business with a positive attitude to safety
