Truckers urged to check energy use, register under Greenhouse Act

THE DEPARTMENT of Climate Change is urging all trucking businesses required to report their energy use under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act to register immediately.

For trucking companies, the thresholds for 2008-09 are using 100 terajoules of energy in any one state or territory, or using 500 terajoules of energy in total during the year.

This is equivalent to using 2.59 million litres of diesel in any one state or territory or 12.95 million litres in total.

Trucking companies whose diesel use approaches these levels should take action now to check if they are required to register and report under the Act.

For more information about reporting under the Act and to register, go to www.climatechange.gov.au/reporting.
