Trucking industry leaders to promote road safety and careers around Australia

THE AUSTRALIAN Trucking Association (ATA) has announced its Chairman and Chief Executive have kicked off their drive between Darwin and Perth, aiming to get a better understanding of the specific issues faced by local trucking operators and the government.

Along the route, ATA Chairman, Trevor Martyn, and Chief Executive, Stuart St Clair, will meet with trucking operators, local government authorities, federal and state politicians and the media to discuss road safety and careers in the trucking industry.

Martyn said the meetings will provide an important forum where interested people can voice their concerns and ask questions about the industry.

The ATA said the two leaders will be talking to local transport operators about what issues affect their business, what unique challenges are faced by the local trucking industry and how the ATA’s travelling exhibition, The Road Ahead, will help demonstrate the importance of the trucking industry to the wider community.

Martyn said they will also be talking to political and community representatives about the need for more rest areas, better road access and the frustrations faced by the industry.
