KENWORTH has just delivered its 40,000th Australian-designed and manufactured truck, and the milestone vehicle is now part of the Kalari Transport fleet.

The truck, a T608 unit, rolled off the company’s Bayswater Melbourne production line.

The truck has a gross combination mass rating of 97t, and is powered by a Cummins Signature engine.

The truck also features an 18-speed Fuller RTLO20918B manual transmission, Meritor RT46-160 rear axles, Kenworth Airglide 460 suspension as well as an integrated sleeper.

Kenworth has been manufacturing trucks in Australia since 1971.

It delivered its 1000th truck in 1974, and the 10,000th truck in 1988.

As an indication of the increase in production rate, the 30,000th truck was delivered in September 2005.
